Bookings
The houses are available throughout the year with most rentals occurring during the tourist season from May through September. Many of the people who have rented the houses since they were lovingly restored have been ‘regulars’ who return year after year, often for a month at a time. And the properties are usually booked up well in advance.
IMPORTANT: Renters must be advised that these are rustic, traditional houses that don't have all of the comforts of modern living. As an example, there is only hot water for the showers, whereas dish washing water is heated in a kettle. We are slowly replacing aeging doors and windows, but some are still drafty when the wind blows. The houses are well cleaned before guest arrival. Amazingly, the WiFi seems to be consistently stable and robust, suitable for streaming movies and video-conferencing when you stay close to the router. Perched at the edge of faemland and a wild gorge there are frequently interesting creatures that come to visit, lots of cats and occasionally centepeded and even scopions. We spray specialized insecticide every year and it is very helpful, but sometimes the creatures stop in for a visit. There is a tempremental washing machine in Carolina's house, but Henry's house guests who need to do laundry must wash clothes by hand. All washing is line dried. Carolina was an inventive, frugal person and her touches on these houses make them unique and let's say... kinda funky at times. Come prepared for beauty with little glamor and you will feel right at home. Just as we do.
